Blessings!
Dear Students,
As you embark on your journey of higher education, whether abroad or returning home, I extend my heartfelt prayers and blessings to each of you. This phase of your life is filled with new experiences, challenges, and opportunities for growth. In the midst of your academic pursuits, I offer you six (6) key points of spiritual guidance rooted in the rich traditions of our Roman Catholic faith:
ü STAY ROOTED IN PRAYER: Amidst the busyness of student life, it is essential to maintain a strong connection with God through daily prayer. Set aside time each day to converse with the Lord, seeking His guidance, strength, and wisdom. Remember the words of St. Paul in Philippians 4:6-7: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
ü PARTICIPATE IN THE SACRAMENTS: The sacraments are vital sources of grace. Make it a priority to attend Mass regularly and receive the Eucharist, which will nourish your soul and strengthen your bond with Christ. Confession is also important for spiritual renewal and growth. As St. Augustine said, “The confession of evil works is the first beginning of good works.”
ü SEEK COMMUNITY: Finding a Catholic community, whether it be a parish, a campus ministry, or a Catholic student organization, can provide you with support and fellowship. Engaging with others who share your faith will encourage you to live out your beliefs and provide a sense of belonging.
ü EMBRACE THE VIRTUES: Strive to embody the virtues of faith, hope, and charity in all your endeavors. Let your actions reflect the love of Christ and be a beacon of His light to those around you. As St. Teresa of Avila reminds us, “Christ has no body now but yours. No hands, no feet on earth but yours. Yours are the eyes through which He looks with compassion on this world.”
ü BALANCE AND WELL-BEING: While your studies are important, remember to take care of your overall well-being. Balance your academic responsibilities with rest, recreation, and time spent with loved ones. Your holistic well-being is essential for your success and happiness.
ü SERVICE AND WITNESS: Use your time and talents to serve others, especially the less fortunate. Acts of service not only help those in need but also deepen your faith and sense of purpose. As Jesus said in Matthew 25:40, “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”
In conclusion, know that you are in my thoughts and prayers as you navigate this exciting and transformative period of your life. May the Holy Spirit guide and protect you, and may you always find strength and solace in the loving arms of our Heavenly Father.
