Opus Dei
Opus Dei began its apostolic activities in San Fernando in 1968. At present, the weekly activities of formation and spiritual guidance for men, entrusted to the Prelature of Opus Dei in San Fernando, are held at Chelsea Heights, St Joseph Village, in an apartment called La Pique established by Caribbean Education Association with the support of many people. Its activities are open to people from all walks of life and religious beliefs. Monthly recollections for ladies are held at La Romaine R.C. Church. Zion Community
The Zion Community founded in 2003 with only 3 members, now serve the archdiocese by conducting retreats, teaching sessions and providing spiritual guidance and care for the distressed in various ways. At different times, they served as Lay Ministers, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, Lectors and in the music ministry. Zion’s Visitation Centre is situated at 22 Seukeran Street, San Fernando. Its ministry of prayer includes Eucharistic Adoration for the public.
Cluny Eucharistic Centre
The Cluny Eucharistic Centre (CEC) was established by Sister Patrice Simmons of St. Joseph of Cluny Sisters, Barbara Thom and Thora A. Mootoo in 1995 as a centre for Eucharistic adoration in the Parish of OLPH. The CEC possesses the canonical nature of a prayer group of a de facto association in the R.C. Archdiocese of Port Of Spain, since July 2008. Its current activities include Eucharistic Adoration, Holy Mass, devotions to the Blessed Virgin Mary, etc. The CEC is currently led by Thora Mootoo and located at 23-25, Mt Moriah Road, San Fernando and opens Mondays to Fridays form 7.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. and Saturdays from 8.00.am. to 2.00 p.m. for Eucharistic Adoration.
Nazereth House
The Nazareth House started in 1986 with a group of housewives with a strong desire to feed the poor who meet every week at each other’s homes to pray. Nazareth House, which is located on Marryat Street, San Fernando, became part of the Living Water Community in 1987. Here at this welcoming and friendly community house, prayer meetings are held on a Monday night from 7:00 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. Other ministries include Bible classes, children and youth prayer meetings, seminars, retreats, adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and every Thursday, ministry to poor families through prayer meetings, counselling and distribution of food and clothing.
