From Me to You… Message: 27th April, 2020.

Brothers and Sisters,

He is Risen! Alleluia Alleluia!

To the roots of the mountains I sank down; the earth beneath barred me in forever. But you, LORD my God, brought my life up from the pit. Jonah 2:6

The substance of this poetic prayer was composed while in the fish’s belly; but afterwards the prophet appears to have thrown it into its present poetic form, and to have added some circumstances, such as that before us; for he now speaks of his deliverance from this imminent danger of death. “LORD my God, brought my life up from the pit.”

God could have rescued Jonah in any number of ways. He chose this specific way because of the effect it would have on Jonah’s heart. The book of Jonah shows us important principles about the sovereignty of God. What happens when God wants a person to do something, but the person doesn’t want to do it? Jonah shows us that God has a way of bringing us to the place where we want what God wants.

Jonah knew God heard him before the answer came. This shows that Jonah had faith and that God can give a total peace and assurance that prayer is answered, even before the actual answer comes. We must have faith like Jonah, at times we want things bright away and now. God’s plan is not your plan. You may pray for something and not receive it and become angry with God but, he may be protecting you from what you are unable to see yet.

Jonah’s greatest pain was not the calamity, but his separation from God – his feeling that he was cast out of God’s sight. Still he was determined, even in the belly of a fish, to turn his heart towards God and His temple. Jonah remembered the LORD. Yet You have brought up my life from the pit, O LORD, my God: Again, Jonah could praise God for the answer to prayer before the answer came, because God gave him assurance.

We must realize that resisting God and running away from him is like being an idolater. Repent and return to the Lord with sacrifice and thanksgiving. God’s promise of an eternal life in paradise with him is not an empty one. Sometimes we don’t have much of a choice about how we will be delivered. Know that with prayer and repentance, God in his mercy and compassion will deliver us from all evil.

Stop Resisting and Start Accepting.

You are reminded to be proactive always. Please do as you are required to ensure your safety and the safety of others. We pray for the souls of the departed from the Covid-19 virus and ask God to grant them pardon for their shortcomings and bring them into the Glory of his Kingdom.
