This is the bodily taking up of the Virgin Mary into Heaven at the end of her earthly life. This Solemnity reminds us of the unique role that Mary served in the process of our Salvation. Although she was without sin, we have the possibilities of receiving God’s forgiveness for our sins through Christ. Her entry into Heaven prefigures our own hope of experiencing the same eternal life.

The question we may ask is, what are the possibilities of us receiving God’s forgiveness through Jesus Christ? These possibilities are all up to you. Once we acknowledge our sins and repent through the Sacrament of Reconciliation through our priests in the Church, and then try to live by following the Ten Commandments, we are welcoming forgiveness for our sins with a strong hope of receiving eternal life in Heaven with Jesus Christ.
